Sudu is a tuk tuk driver who’s got a pumping sound system in his taxi. We took a ride with him from Hikkaduwa to Ambalangoda in our first week of being here. It was great hearing all the sounds from the road mixing in and out of the music Sudu played through his system. It became the inspiration for the whole album.
Most of the sounds we used to make this track come from that single trip out to Ambalangoda.
Sounds created from:
Beats – tuk tuk horns and sound system (Hikkaduwa), Perehara whips (Kelaniya)
Hi-hats – Sunday market vendors and metal scales (Hikkaduwa)
Percussion – Street tannoy (Ambalangoda)
Chords - passing motorbike, Mask Museum workshop hammer and radio (Ambalangoda)
Melody tones – tuk tuk sound system (Hikkaduwa), Mask Museum workshop radio (Ambalangoda)
